Atlantic Canada

Atlantic Region

PFC is thrilled about the momentum that is continuing to build throughout the Atlantic Region for both institutional engagement and new volunteer recruitment. PFC is actively seeking to mobilize and equip new teams from local churches to partner with us to serve prisoners, ex-prisoners, their families, and victims. Pray with us as we seek God’s direction and provision.

New Brunswick

In New Brunswick, there are 9 provincial, federal and youth institutions combined, where PFC seeks to be connected to prisoners.

PFC’s Faith & Justice program, including the Sycamore Tree program, is an important tool for restorative ministry. PFC’s Bridgecare reintegration program is also active throughout New Brunswick, with PFC teams ready to provide spiritual friendship and practical mentoring to ex-prisoners coming from all parts of the Atlantic region. In New Brunswick, All five provincial jails are running the PFC by Phone program.

In the most recent Angel Tree program, 129 children received gifts  from their prisoner parent through the generosity of 46 sponsors.

We are currently looking for new volunteers throughout the province for Bridgecare ministry opportunities. If you live in Miramichi, Moncton, Shediac or Saint John, please consider joining our in-prison ministry.

Newfoundland

The province of Newfoundland houses prisoners in 5 provincial jails. Through the support of church partners, we seek to be connected to these locations through in-prison, Bridgecare, PFC by Phone, and Angel Tree programs. Our team of volunteers in St John’s and its environs are trained in these programs, including The Sycamore Tree Restorative Justice programming.

The most recent Angel Tree program connected 53 children to their prisoner parent through gifts delivered by generous sponsors. Our Faith & Justice series including The Forgiveness Journey run at several instittutions in the province.

Please pray with us as we seek God’s direction and provision. If you live in Newfoundland, please consider serving with us as a volunteer. We would love to have you.

Nova Scotia and PEI

Volunteer teams from local church partners have been facilitating PFC’s Faith & Justice program in various provincial and federal facilities. PFC’s garden project at Springhill Institution was a huge success, and helped further solidify strategic relationships between PFC and institutional staff. PFC is seeking to mobilize and engage like-minded local churches who share a vision to be part of a community of reconciliation and restoration throughout Nova Scotia and PEI.

In Nova Scotia, PFC active ministries include our Angel Tree Christmas, Angel Tree Camping, In-prison Faith & Justice and PFC by Phone programs.

We are currently looking for new volunteers for in-prison ministry opportunities in the Truro, Springhill, Dartmouth, Cape Breton and New Glasgow areas. We are also looking for Bridgecare volunteers throughout the province with an emphasis on Halifax and Cape Breton areas.

In PEI, PFC is currently active in ministry through our Angel Tree Christmas programs.

Please consider being a part of prison ministry with PFC and serving prisoners, ex-prisoners, their families and victims.
