We pray for prisoners just trying to serve their sentences to be covered from the political issues of the prisoner population that lead to fights or other prisoner violence. We pray that the Holy Spirit would especially surround and protect those who are simply trying to serve their time and return to their families.

We pray for freedom over those with chemical dependencies and ask the Lord to use incarceration to help individuals who battle with addiction to find encouragement, tools, and support for staying on the path of sobriety. We pray for healthy connections to community.

We pray for a Spirit of grace to fall over Canadian churches for justice-affected individuals. In seeing ourselves rightly as law-breakers of God's law, may we be an olive branch of mercy and grace toward those who have broken society's laws.

We ask the Spirit of God to search out the hearts of believers who are also strong Bible study facilitators across Canada and lead them to PFC ministry. We pray that we would have at least two volunteer facilitators available for every institution across Canada that has invited us in.

We pray for our dedicated team here at PFC and their tireless efforts that make this ministry possible. We pray over their homes and their families and ask the Holy Spirit to keep these families connected in healthy ways. Give us wisdom to strike the right balance between home and work life.

We lift up incarcerated individuals who struggle with anger and we pray that the Lord would find ways to give them new tools for managing stress, expressing themselves, and finding connection to deeper healing in Him. We pray that they locate exactly what they need when they read His Word.

We pray that the authentic love of the local church will be clearly seen in how churches receive the formerly incarcerated and welcome these returning citizens into local congregations without fear or judgment. We pray for wisdom on all sides for what every unique situation requires.

We pray that more pastors across Canada will equip local congregations through sermons and preaching messages that communicate God's heart for justice, mercy, and prison outreach. We also pray that there would be more outreach programs that serve to support marginalized communities before crime ever becomes an issue to our most vulnerable populations.

We lift up all justice-affected people who are sitting in the 'middle' of something. Whether victims waiting for closure, or the accused waiting for court, or the convicted waiting for release, or the families of prisoners waiting for their loved ones to come home. We pray for our leaders to see the value of restorative justice practices instead of simply building more jails. We pray that the work of PFC will be a beacon of the impact and positive outcomes of restorative justice approaches to crime.

We pray for hearts in the justice system to move from a retributive punishment paradigm to a restorative justice understanding that brings about true healing, peace, and reconciliation. We pray for the power of the Gospel to reach all levels of our justice system across Canada.

We pray that more churches across Canada would become involved in studies that help to shape their understanding of restorative justice, and for wisdom in practical ways they can begin to apply these concepts into their fellowship practices, and then to the world around them.

We lift up PFC's National Programs Coordinator. We ask the Holy Spirit to infuse her mind and heart with the inspiration that only comes from him to powerfully and effectively communicate the breadth of PFC's work through design and social media.

We pray for open hearts in Eastern Ontario institutions as our Chief of Staff, Raymond Mowla, and National Bridgecare Manager, Melissa Ytsma work to highlight the value of various PFC programs to prisoners and those approaching release.

We lift up PFC's VP of Programs & Missions, Shirley Buchanan, and ask the Lord that amidst the multitude of responsibilities that she is often balancing, to give her wisdom and discernment to know how to prioritize and order all of these things. We also pray for peace and rest in her labours.

We lift up our National Volunteer Coordinator, Sheila Reid, and ask the Lord to guard her against burnout; to give her wisdom in placement and scheduling, patience in communication, and encouragement in her Spirit.

Staffing shortages in institutions across Canada have severe impact on prisoner family visits, volunteer Bible studies for prisoners, lock-downs and yard time, and many other things. We pray right now that every Canadian institution would be so overwhelmingly supplied that the result would support every other restorative opportunity for prisoners.

We lift up PFC's President and CEO, Stacey Palmer, and ask the Lord to continue to fill her with boldness when she speaks; for favour and open doors to take the work of the ministry into new places, for clarity in vision, and for support and encouragement to surround her every step of the way.

Please join us in prayer as our national team gathers together to share our vision, build teamwork, and align goals for the year ahead. We pray that this will not only be time spent efficiently, but also lead to deeper connection between our entire national team.

We lift up PFC's Director of Development, Kendra Hickton, and pray for inspiration and direction from God as she cultivates relationships across Canada with our PFC community and works to build an effective engagement strategy for the year ahead.
