Tara Hilman hails from rural Alberta. She grew up in and was guided by the Lord through a little country church and large Christian family. While she has worked in a variety of jobs – from tractor dealerships to teaching assistantships – she has spent much of her adult life working in libraries or studying English literature (or a combination thereof).
She joined the PFC team in 2018 while completing a PhD at Queens University. While the shift from academia to prison ministry wasn’t a plot twist that she saw coming, the transition has been rich and rewarding. The beauty of the Biblical calling to, “bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners” (Isaiah 61:1) has been deeply and daily imprinted on her heart, as she has witnessed the amazing work the Lord is doing through this ministry as He restores, and re-stories, lives!
